Rate Increased Passed Along To Merchants
Everett, WA (December 11, 2017) – Northwest Software Technologies, Inc., the pioneering and leading developer of event fundraising management software designed specifically for nonprofit organizations, has received word of a rate increase by Visa, MasterCard and Discover .
Dan Harrington, President of NLP Secure has notified us of a rate increase by the three card brands. The new rate effective immediately is 3.49%. Other typical fees such as Per Transaction continue to be excluded. This is an increase of 6.8%.
As explained by Mr. Harrington, there has been a large influx of consumers using Visa Signature cards. For example, 10′s of millions now carry and regularly use the Citibank Costco Visa Signature card. The most expensive card issued. He continues… This has caused a large shift in costs as consumers are reducing or stopping use of Visa debit and lower cost Visa cards. As usual, the added costs get passed along to the merchant in higher fees. A search of the Internet with the search term “October 2017 card processing rates increase” backs this conversation.
